Hostos Art Gallery
Based in Hostos Community College, this gallery features the works of
multi-cultural artists in numerous media with exhibitions that take place
year-round. Adjacent to the Gallery is the Hostos Center for the Arts
& Culture, a state-of-the-art performing space that presents drama,
comedy and musical productions
Lehman College Art Gallery
The gallery features contemporary art by leading national and international
figures as well as emerging artists. Lehman has a proud tradition of exhibiting
the works of artists with Bronx roots in its ongoing series, The Bronx
Celebrates. Art education is one of the gallery's top priorities, with
gallery talks, poetry and fiction series, panels and seminars regularly
offered.
Longwood Arts Gallery
The Longwood Arts Gallery is the visual arts facility of the Bronx Council
on the Arts. The alternative visual arts exhibition space, once an elementary
school, features the works of emerging, underrepresented and inner city
artists. It is also home to the Bronx Council on the Arts' acclaimed Cyber
Residency program, the first of its kind in the country. At this state-of-the-art
facility, artists develop interactive projects to be displayed online.
The Gallery is in the Longwood Historic District, a small, architecturally
cohesive enclave of semi-detached residences with magnificent embellishments.
Starving Artist Studio & Gallery
Elliot Glick, "the artist formerly known as starving", is the
proprietor of this charming gallery and studio with its emphasis on Mr.
Glick's handmade jewelry. The Gallery also features the fine art and craft
work of more than 30 artists, some of them Island residents. There are
also lots of gift ideas, like handmade soap, bath products, pottery and
hand-painted t-shirts and scarves.
